Great start to the day! 😋 Sometimes you have to unplug, turn down the noise, push back the negative energy, and fall in love with yourself all over again. What better place to do this than in the City of Love. ❤️ It’s the end of Emancipation month 2022. But, it doesn’t mean that we should forget the price our ancestors paid so we could live the life we have today. As Emancipation month comes to a close, I reflect on my visit to @internationalslaverymuseum in Liverpool, England as part of the research for my first novel, The Wisdom of Rain. It was heartbreaking, nevertheless important, to see the dioramas, the replicas of slave ships, and multiple artifacts, and to read the captions of the stories of Liverpool’s role in The Slave Trade. Bristol and London also participated, but Liverpool’s role was significantly enhanced. And outside, still stands the two surviving dry docks where these ‘wooden prisons’ were repaired before returning to their merciless trek along the African coast picking up ‘cargo’ for the new world.
